Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgeries

Your pet having to go through a surgical procedure, whether it is minor or more involved, can be a very scary time. We strive to provide the best care to your pet while they are undergoing anesthetic procedures.

Spay and Neuter

One of the most common soft tissue surgeries we perform in clinic, spaying or neutering your pet once they are old enough can provide a long list of health benefits as well as avoid many possible future costly complications, plus avoiding unwanted litters that may end up in a shelter. Depending on your pets breed and age the veterinarian can recommend when to perform this procedure. This is also an ideal time to microchip your pet while they are sedated so that they can be returned to you if ever lost.

Post-op Care

Recovery time for these procedures is usually 10-14 days. We will ask that you keep your pet from being too active during this time to allow for the best healing.
We recommend that your pet wear an E-Collar or surgical suit to prevent them from traumatizing their incision. There are many options to keep your pets incision safe and we would be more than happy to help you find one you are comfortable with and that will make your pet happy.
Your pet will go home and medications to assist with their recovery, please give these to your pet as prescribed and notify us of any concerns that arise.
Bathing/swimming is not advised for 14 days following surgery, but you can bath them prior to their appointment! The area of their incision will need to remain dry and clean for the best healing experience possible.

We enjoy seeing your pets for this important milestone! Often we are performing these procedures on young patients that are happy when they feel safe and comfortable with us during these times.
